The information of this Collaborative Inquiry Project has been gathered from a variety of proprietary and academic sources and investigates numerous techniques and technologies that can aid language learning. All of the language learning aids we have presented have been shown to have positive effects on language learning and retention. However, it is important to remember that every learner is different and will find differences in effectiveness and motivation between the tools presented here. Individuals may find that it is a combination of methods that is most effective for them. Some sources have noted that certain language technologies are a distraction to students and a source of frustration for teachers (Williams, 2014). It is our hope that our study and presentation can help the potential language learner to navigate the dizzying array of new technologies that claim to be the next best thing for acquiring a new tongue. In the end, there is no substitute for hard work.
